ZF, purveyors of gears to the motoring trade, (they actually purvey lots of things but let's stick with the gears) are 100 this year so let's remind ourselves of how many variations of gearbox they've purveyed over the years.
They've had boxes with:
One gear
Two (buses in the 1960s)
Three (automatic ones in the 1960s and 70s)
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine
No, not ten, They're not doing ten.
Twelve
Sixteen
An infinite number (Mini CVT, not a thing widely admired)
Anyways, happy birthday!

I've got two of these:
ZF6 manual transmission. Rated to 450 lb. ft. bone stock and totally amazing to use.
